Maria Dysangco Walters is a full professor of Biology currently teaching at the Crescent Lake University. Recently, Maria was up for an award in her field of Evolutionary Biology. She's married to Elliot Walters and has two children.

Maria is of Filipino-Chinese descent.[1] She's a short woman in her late fifties, a little over five feet tall, and she has a slender build. She has the dark brown eyes and straight black hair typical of people from the Islands. She wears her hair cut below her shoulders.
Personality[]
She has a stoic personality typified by the patience ingrained in her culture. She has boundless patience and the ability to see things through.She's kind to others but ferocious defending her family, doing whatever is necessary. She can be passionate about things that remind her of home.

Coming to America[]
Maria was born Maria Dysangco and raised in the Philippines. She came to the United States when she was in her early twenties to continue her studies in Biology. She left everything behind: all her family, all her friends, everything that was familiar. Then one day she walked into a coffee shop off campus and met Elliot Walters working behind the counter. Elliot's coffee was an immediate hit with Maria; Elliot declared he would make it for her forever.[2] The couple hit it off and were married soon after.
The Attack on Malaya[]
Maria's daughter, Malaya, was attacked and bitten by a werewolf at age five. At the first full moon after the attack, Malaya's body tried to transform but was only able to partially change. Her temper became unpredictable and she tried to attack her mother. Maria dodged the attack and managed to keep her contained. Maria and her husband decided to keep young Malaya at home and homeschool her. They continued to protect and coddle her for all her life.

- In one of Shawn's theories, Maria, "after coming to the US for her master's degree (and meeting her dad and getting married, etc.), decided to pursue her PhD in evolutionary biology as a way of maybe finding a cure for her daughter's werewolfy thing. So far, no luck. Or probably ever, but it's fine."[3]
